Shalani Soledad and Pasig Representative Roman Romulo are now Engaged

Former President Pnoy's girlfriend, Shalani Soledad is now engaged to Pasig Representative Roman Romulo. The 44-year old lawmaker already introduced Shalani to his family which, according to her sister, Berna Romulo-Puyat is a sign that he is serious with Shalani Soledad. Usec. Berna Puyat told reporters that Representative Roman Romulo never brings home a girl unless he is serious with his intentions.

The Pasig lawmaker reportedly first asked the blessing from Shalani's mother, Mrs. Evelyn Soledad. Shalani's mother admire the courage of Romulo for seeking out her permission in marrying Shalani.

Berna Romulo Puyat confirmed that her brother gave Shalani a diamond ring which is an heirloom given by Rep. Romulo's mom, Rosie Lovely Tecson Romulo. She revealed that Shalani is well-liked by their family.

The two are planning to marry next year.

Shalani Soledad: The Making of the First Girlfriend

Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad instantly became famous when Senator Noynoy Aquino ran for the Philippine presidency. When Senator Noynoy became the president, the more she become popular and there are lots of speculations that President Noynoy will bring her to the altar and she'll become the first lady. As of now, she is fondly called the First Girlfriend.

Every couple has a love story to tell. How did the relationship of the two started? Ms. Shalani Soledad first interviewed Pres. Noynoy Aquino in 2005 when she was then a reporter of UNTV. Since that time, president Noynoy could not forget her anymore because she asked about Kris Aquino, the presidential sister who is her idol while everybody else asked about the SONA. In 2008, they would see each other again in a resto in Quezon City, this time, Noynoy as a senator and she, a councilor. Then this was followed by meetings of the two at Starbucks and phonecalls and that's when the two became "on".

Since she became popular to the public, she has graced several covers of magazines and she had been interviewed even by her future sister-in-law Kris Aquino. For me, Shalani Soledad is beautiful, simple and she looks humble, unassuming, decent and fit to be a First Lady.

But lately, when President Noynoy Aquino was asked about the status of their relationship, he admitted that they seldom talk and see each other because each of them are very busy with their respective duties and responsibilities, being in government service. Press people have been asking the presidential speaker about plans of the two but refused to talk about them saying he does not talk personal matters with the president. There have been speculations that the two have broken up since they don't have time for each other. That's only a speculation and there's no official statement yet coming from the concerned parties. Anyways, good luck to both of them and I hope they'll end up together. They look perfect as a couple.
